Canon's widest (full frame) zoom lens at its launch offered excellent image quality and high build quality. Distortions and aberrations are not intrusive and fixable in software. Shows its age on higher resolution full frame sensors and in comparison to the mark II version. Still more than good enough for general use if found used.
